Job summary

The Director of Periodontics at Touro College of Dental Medicine in Albuquerque leads the clinical education of dental students in periodontics and guides patient interaction as they transition to independent practice.

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Education, the role oversees treatment planning, student performance reviews, and calibration of clinical protocols, infection control, and examination processes while collaborating with faculty and practice leaders.

Qualifications

• D.D.S./DMD from a CODA-accredited dental school or equivalent.
• Certificate of training and educationally qualified from an ADA-accredited specialty program.
• Dental License Registration; eligible for licensure in New Mexico.

Responsibilities

• Monitor treatment planning, progress, and performance.
• Model and advise students on professionalism and patient management techniques.
• Review each student's performance in the periodontal clinic on a regular basis.
• Assist Students in rendering care to patients.
• Demonstrate procedures to students as needed.
• Attend periodic meetings with other Directors or Clinical Practice Leaders.
• Oversee calibration and infection control in clinical areas.
• Stay abreast of faculty operations and ensure adequate coverage.
