Role Description
The Director, Performance Improvement is responsible for assessing Member performance, identifying and prioritizing material improvement opportunities, and independently leading performance improvement initiatives from strategy through execution and measurable results. The role uses clinical expertise, comparative data, and business insight to improve clinical, operational, and financial performance and works directly with Member executives, physicians, and clinical leaders to drive organizational change. The Director also establishes measures to quantify the clinical and financial value of PI efforts and contributes clinical and PI expertise to the development of new analytics, automation, AI, and performance intelligence capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Performance Leadership: Partner with VP, Performance Improvement to define and execute strategic initiatives that improve clinical, financial, and operational performance across Members, independently leading assigned initiatives from strategy through execution and measurable results.
- Opportunity Identification & Prioritization: Use data-driven analysis, clinical expertise, and business context to identify, quantify, and prioritize performance improvement opportunities across clinical outcomes, financial performance, and resource utilization.
- Advanced Analytics & Insight Generation: Leverage comparative analytics and deep dataset analysis to identify trends, test hypotheses, validate findings, and determine drivers of variation in performance.
- Cross-Member Collaboration & Best Practice Deployment: Lead cross-functional initiatives across Members to share best practices, standardize approaches, and drive measurable improvement aligned to TPC KPIs.
- Performance Strategy & Advisory: Translate complex clinical, operational, and financial performance information into clear implications and actionable strategies for Member executives, physicians, and clinical leaders.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management: Build trusted relationships with Member executives, physicians, clinical leaders, and internal stakeholders; facilitate executive-level discussions, navigate barriers, and influence organizational change to advance improvement initiatives.
- Executive Communication & Reporting: Develop and deliver clear, actionable insights through presentations and reporting that inform strategy and influence executive decision-making
- Value Attribution & Capability Development: Establish measures and quantify the clinical, operational, and financial impact of PI initiatives while contributing clinical and PI expertise to the development, testing, and validation of new analytics, automation, AI, CMS intelligence, and other performance improvement capabilities.

Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) required, with a minimum of five years of acute inpatient hospital experience.
- Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in business, healthcare administration, nursing, or related field preferred.
- Meaningful experience in hospital quality and/or performance improvement, including identifying opportunities and leading improvement initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to interpret clinical, operational, and financial data and translate findings into actionable strategies.
- Strong executive presence, consultative communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively engage hospital executives, physicians, and clinical leaders.
- Demonstrated change-management skills and ability to influence stakeholders without positional authority.
- Working knowledge of healthcare performance measures and programs, including quality outcomes, CMS performance programs, patient experience, and other hospital performance measures.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint and experience working with clinical benchmarking or performance analytics platforms.
- Experience working across multiple hospitals or health systems preferred.
- Experience with value-based or at-risk performance models preferred.
- Demonstrated practical use of AI and AI-enabled tools in day-to-day work preferred.
