Job summary

Charlotte County, Florida is seeking a Director of People Operations to lead all aspects of the county’s personnel and HR programs, including talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, safety, and training. The Director will also serve as management’s lead spokesperson in labor negotiations and in policy formulation to ensure compliance with employment law.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree and brings 10 years in People Operations, with 5 years in supervisory roles and 5 years

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required.
10 years direct People Operations experience; 5+ years in progressively responsible management roles.
5 years of experience negotiating with unions as spokesperson for management.
Local government experience required.

Responsibilities

Direct all phases of people operations—talent acquisition, employee relations, classification and pay, benefits, safety, wellness, and training and development.
Serve as management’s lead spokesperson in labor negotiations, grievance resolution, arbitration, and mediation.
Formulate personnel policies and ensure compliance with employment law, acting as the Equal Employment Opportunity Officer.
Strengthen the Business Partner service model across departments as a strategic partner.
Build trusted relationships with the Board, County leadership, and 1,700+ employee workforce.
