Job summary

City of Georgetown seeks a seasoned Parks and Recreation Director to plan, direct, and oversee a comprehensive system of parks, facilities, programs, and events. You will lead staff, supervise operations, and build community partnerships to enhance quality of life.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in a related field, 7+ years in parks and recreation with 5+ in supervision, and a Texas driver’s license. The role includes budget oversight, grants management, long-range planning, risk management, and

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of full-time progressive experience in parks and recreation administration, with at least five years in a supervisory capacity.
• OR equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides direction and vision to assigned staff in the operation of the department.
• Supervises department staff and handles hiring, training, evaluation, counseling, developing and disciplining of assigned staff.
• Develops, implements and maintains policies, procedures and regulations pertaining to parks and recreation; ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and laws governing department activities.
• Oversee operation and programming of all recreation facilities including the recreation center, tennis center, swimming pools, athletic complex, challenge course and departmental special events.
• Prepares operational budgets; predicts income and outlays; reviews fees for services to meet cost recovery goals; monitors revenues and expenditures.
