Job summary

Virginia Tech’s Department of Athletics seeks a Director of Operations / TFCC to oversee budget and daily ops for Track & Field and Cross Country in Blacksburg. You will coordinate team travel, student-athlete admissions, and liaison with compliance and academic support services.

The role reports to the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field and requires strong organizational and communication skills, plus experience with NCAA rules and recruiting travel.

The Director of Operations / TFCC (Track & Field and Cross Country) will manage the budget and daily operations of the Track & Field and Cross Country programs. This person will coordinate individual and team travel arrangements, student athlete admissions, communication with Athletics Compliance and Student Athlete Academic Support Services. Responsibilities include and not limited to managing travel (for both the team and staff); daily schedule of coaches and team; coordinate recruiting visits; plan special events; serve as game day operations liaison; handle numerous administrative responsibilities for the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field. This position reports directly to the Director of Cross Country and Track & Field.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Sports Management or a related field with significant experience or a master's degree.
• Excellent communication and organization skills.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
• Experience coordinating team and recruiting travel for a Division I athletic program.
• Experience working with a diverse group of coaches, staff, and/or student athletes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in a Division I "Power 4" athletic department.
• Experience as a collegiate coach and/or student athlete.
• Working knowledge of recruiting software (Teamworks).
