Job summary

SRC Automotive, Inc. is seeking a Director of Operations in Springfield, MO to lead two manufacturing facilities with ~150 associates.

You will guide production leadership, shape safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives, and drive continuous improvement while aligning with long-term growth goals. The role emphasizes developing leaders, building robust systems, and partnering withEngineering, Quality, and Finance to meet strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in operations management or related field.
  • 7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership with large teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership across two manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop and coach Facility Manager and Production Manager.
  • Set and execute strategies for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Drive continuous improvement in processes, labor, capacity, and workflows.
  • Use data to identify trends and translate into action plans.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, HR, and Finance.
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and resource needs.
  • Ensure capacity aligns with demand and future needs.
  • Foster accountability and a culture of ownership and problem solving.
  • Mentor managers and build leadership depth across Operations.
  • Standardize operating practices and cross-facility alignment.

The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced manufacturing leader to serve as our Director of Operations, providing strategic and operational leadership across our two manufacturing facilities.

This position is responsible for the overall performance of production operations, leading team of Production Managers and Production Supervisors with approximately 150 associates. The Director of Operations will establish clear expectations, develop strong leaders, drive accountability, and build sustainable systems that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and financial performance.

As a 100% employee-owned company, we are looking for a leader who understands that operational success is about more than hitting today's production numbers. This individual will help develop our people, strengthen our manufacturing systems, and build the operational capabilities needed to support SRC Automotive's long-term growth.

What You'll Do

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for production operations across two manufacturing facilities.
  • Lead and develop the Facility Manager and Production Manager while building capability and accountability throughout the supervisory team.
  • Establish and execute operational strategies that support company goals for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, labor performance, capacity utilization, workflow, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Use operational and financial data to identify trends, constraints, and opportunities and translate them into clear action plans.
  • Partner with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, HR, Finance, and other functions to resolve operational challenges and support business objectives.
  • Develop and manage production budgets, forecasts, staffing plans, and resource requirements.
  • Ensure production capacity and workforce capabilities are aligned with current demand and future business needs.
  • Build a strong culture of accountability, problem-solving, continuous improvement, and employee ownership.
  • Coach and develop managers and supervisors, strengthening the leadership bench and succession pipeline within Operations.
  • Ensure consistent operating practices, communication, and expectations across both facilities.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management or related field or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including responsibility for large production teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading through managers and supervisors rather than relying on direct day-to-day oversight.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, production planning, and capacity management
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, 5S, or similar continuous improvement experience preferred.
  • Experience improving safety, quality, delivery, labor efficiency, productivity, and cost performance.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with the ability to understand how operational decisions impact overall company performance.
  • Experience developing leaders, building high-performing teams, and creating accountability at multiple levels of an organization.
  • Ability to balance immediate production needs with longer-term operational strategy and capability building.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
