Job summary

University of California, Berkeley is seeking an Operations Director for the Center for Healthcare Marketplace Innovation (CHMI) to oversee day-to-day operations, planning and budgeting, and grants management.

You will coordinate with Haas leaders, IBI, and multiple faculty across departments to ensure successful programs and events, while supervising staff and IT resources and driving strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of and/or can quickly learn University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for data management, contracts and grants management, fund management, and personnel management, including of represented employees.
• Advanced interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising, and counseling skills.
• Advanced knowledge of a variety of administrative operational activities such as event planning, fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, data handling, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.
• Knowledge of specific requirements and activities in these areas related to the healthcare industry is essential.
• Advanced knowledge of and/or can quickly learn common University-specific computer application programs.
• Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Advanced skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, analysis, problem-solving, and customer service.
• Advanced knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
• Experience with and advanced knowledge of health care industry-specific requirements for data handling and management, IT requirements, and partnership with major stakeholders in this industry.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a desire to establish and maintain positive & professional working relationships with colleagues, students and team members.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of the Center for Healthcare Marketplace Innovation.
• Plan, budget, and administer contracts and grants for the center and its programs.
• Coordinate with center leadership, faculty affiliates, and Haas staff on programs, projects, and events.
• Lead grant writing, fundraising, and related tasks to fund center activities.
• Supervise staff and manage IT resources, data sets, software, and server space.
• Develop and prepare complex budgets with multiple funding sources.
• Assist with hiring and HR tasks, and ensure compliance with policies and grant/regulation requirements.
• Analyze metrics and KPIs for reporting and planning purposes.
