Job summary

Legends Global in Wichita is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily facility operations, maintenance, and event support. You will supervise engineering, building services, custodial, IT, and stagehand teams, coordinate with other departments, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

The role demands budget input, vendor negotiations, and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high service levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from technical college with major in Management or Maintenance Engineering, desired.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Supervising or Managing in a similar facility.
• Knowledge and understanding of HVAC, hydronic heating and cooling systems, theatrical performance systems.
• Additional experience may be substituted for education.
• Supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise and schedule all aspects of Operations, including Engineering/Maintenance; Building and Grounds; Cleaning/Custodial, IT, and Stagehands.
• Coordinate Operations with other departments and event-related contractors.
• Implement and update facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Provide clear communication of directives to other departments.

• Oversee maintenance of Physical Plant, Lighting, Sound, AV, Stage Production equipment and safe operations.
• Assist in annual and long-range budget planning and capital projects.
• Authorizes requisition of equipment and supplies within budget.
• Provide yearly inventory of all equipment.
• Ensure compliance with laws, codes, safety procedures and emergency procedures.
• Develop training programs for Fire/Life Safety and OSHA procedures.
• Investigate operational problems and conduct staff meetings.
• Work with General Manager on contracts and CBAs.
• Review contracts for compliance with events/government specs.
• Negotiate with vendors, unions, contractors, and service providers.
• Develop preventive maintenance schedules and safety policies.
• Act as liaison to public utilities, energy agencies; lead energy saving efforts.
• Coordinate and oversee special projects (construction, remodeling, expansion).
• Plan and direct outside vendor work to ensure safety and contractual compliance.
• Serve as MOD with focus on theater load-ins/loads-outs.
• Position requires working at all Legends Global facilities in Wichita.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary

Responsible for the daily activities required to operate, maintain, and service the facility and/or the events by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct, supervises and schedules all aspects of Operations, including Engineering/Maintenance; Building and Grounds; Cleaning/Custodial, IT, and Stagehands.

• Coordinate the Operations activities with other departments and event related contractors to assure facility readiness and smooth operation of events.

• Implements and updates facility rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

• Provides clear, concise, and timely communication of directives to other departments.

• Ensures that Operations Department receives pertinent information for the most effective use of the facility and staffing.

• Oversees maintenance of the Physical Plant, Theatrical Lighting, Sound, Audio Visual, Stage Production equipment and ensures safe operations of all those systems.

• Assists in the preparation of the Annual Operating Budget and recommends a capital budget for 1-year, 5-year, 10-year, and 20-year long-range repairs and improvements to the facility.

• Authorizes the requisition of equipment and supplies within budget guidelines.

• Provide yearly inventory of all equipment.

• Know and ensures all laws, codes, ordinances, policies, procedures, Risk Management, safety precautions, rules/regulations and emergency procedures are followed.

• Develop program to train all employees on Fire/Life Safety, Emergency and OSHA Procedures.

• Investigate, analyze, and resolve operational problems and complaints. Conduct periodic staff meetings to discuss procedures, problems, and policy changes.

• Work closely with the General Manager in the preparation and negotiation of Service Agreements, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.

• Review contracts for compliance with events and/or government specifications and suitability for occupancy.

• Negotiate with vendors, unions (if applicable), contractors and/or service providers.

• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, emergency procedures, safety, and Risk Management policies in compliance with all Corporate and governmental regulations.

• Act as liaison to public utility, environmental, and energy agencies. Lead the facility in implementation of any energy saving guidelines.

• Coordinates and oversees special projects, such as construction, remodeling, or expansion.

• Plan and direct outside vendors/contractors work to assure compliance with contracts and safety requirements.

• Serve as MOD (Manager on Duty) as required with special focus on theater load-ins, performances and load-outs.

• Position requires the ability to work at all Legends Global facilities in Wichita.

• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manage subordinate supervisors in any of the following departments: Changeover, Housekeeping, Facility Maintenance, Operations, Production, Engineering, Carpenters, Electricians, Plumbers, Stagehands, and Security. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends Global’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
