Job summary

Legends Global is seeking a Production Manager to coordinate and implement all technical stage aspects for licensees of the facility, including electrics, audio, fly and crewing, at Buddy Holly Hall in Lubbock, Texas. This salaried role reports to the General Manager and supervises production staff.

The candidate will manage pre-performance requirements, show runs, back-of-house logistics, budgets, and vendor relations while ensuring safety and OSHA compliance in a fast-paced live-events

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in Theater with technical emphasis or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years in a performing arts center or theater.
• Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and stage management.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and safety regulations.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate pre-performance technical requirements with licensee.
• Oversee load-ins, setups, show runs and strikes for all shows.
• Coordinate backstage logistics with Stage Employees Union representative.
• Prepare and coordinate back-of-house event information with event manager.
• Manage front-of-house details for specified events.

POSITION: Production Manager DEPARTMENT: Production REPORTS TO: General Manager FLSA STATUS: Salaried, Exempt, Full-Time

THE ROLE

This position is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all technical stage aspects which include, but are not limited to, electrics, audio, fly, crewing, logistics and preventive maintenance for all stage systems, personnel and equipment for licensees of the facility.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinate with licensee all pre-performance technical requirements.
• Oversee load-ins, set ups, show runs and strikes for all shows to include civic events, Broadway shows, symphony performances and national concert tours.
• Coordinate all backstage logistics for shows with local Stage Employees Union business representative.
• Prepare and coordinate with the event manager all “back of house” event information.
• Coordinate “front of house” details for specified events
• Prepare the event estimate and update the client and event file with changes in the estimate.
• Prepare and process stage employee union payroll.
• Process production vendor charges through purchasing system, steward vendor relationships and payment of charges via credit card or check, work with Administrative Assistance to reconcile credit card statements monthly.
• Supervise a preventative maintenance program for all light, sound, and backstage equipment.
• Recommend capital purchases or improvements to Facility Director
• Provide for the training, safe working conditions and welfare of stage employees in accordance with Legends Global policies, union guidelines and applicable EEO and OSHA regulations.
• Serve as Event Manager on Duty as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Directly supervises Managers, Assistants or Coordinators in the Production Department.
• The Production Manager carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends Global policies and applicable laws.
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

• 4-year degree in Theater with technical emphasis or professional equivalence.
• 3-year minimum experience working in a performing arts center/theater.
• Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and stage management.
• Working knowledge of applicable OSHA, state and other work environment and safety regulations.
• Working knowledge of fire and public safety issues.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.

• Must have attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Must have strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills necessary for planning and directing coverage at events.
• Must have strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to adapt to changes in the work environment, managing competing demands, frequent changes, delays or unexpected events.
• Must have the ability to train, plan, assign, and direct work and motivate union stage personnel and front-of-house personnel.
• Understand and work from general instructions, specifications, blueprints, sketches, and preventive maintenance schedules.
• Must be able to prepare, analyze and operate within Department Budget
• Must have good computer skills.
