Job summary

GEODIS seeks an Operations Director to lead daily final mile warehouse and delivery operations across assigned facilities, ensuring safe, profitable performance.

The role requires directing budgets, staffing, and labor costs while optimizing routes for heavy items. Travel is expected to support nationwide operations and client accounts within a dynamic, safety-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university.
• 7–10 years related experience and/or training.
• Experience with storage/shipment of food grade items preferred.
• Experience with inbound and outbound international shipments preferred.
• Knowledge of labor management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations for local and regional big and bulky home delivery networks.
• Optimize daily delivery routes for heavy items like appliances and furniture.
• Build and manage the annual operational budget, P&L, and labor costs.
• Track key metrics such as On-Time Delivery, cost-per-stop, and revenue per truck.
• Hire, train, and manage warehouse staff and logistics coordinators.
• Communicate best practices nationwide and initiate process improvement teams.
• Confer with customers and industry representatives to promote improved services.
• Develop plans for efficient use of materials, equipment, and staff resources.
• Review costs and recommend actions to maintain profitable operation.

Director of Operations- Final Mile

The Operations Director is responsible for directing the warehouse, distribution, inventory management and related operations for assigned facilities and is responsible for a safe, profitable operation.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The points below highlight the Operations Director duties:

• Lead daily operations for local and regional big and bulky home delivery networks.

Build and manage the annual operational budget, P&L, and labor costs.

• Track key metrics like On-Time Delivery (OTD), cost-per-stop, and revenue per truck.
• Hire, train, and manage warehouse staff and logistics coordinators
• Communicates best practices nation wide
• Initiates process improvement teams
• Confers with customers and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote improved and expanded services in the area
• Develops plans for efficient use of materials, equipment, and employee resources
• Reviews costs and makes changes/recommendations to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division

What projects will you work on in this role?

You get to travel as needed: to possible include 75% in 1 90 days and 15-25% after 1 90 days. You will promote and ensure a clean and safe work environment but for food accounts, incumbent is responsible to report food safety problems to senior management to initiate action.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or university
• Minimum 7 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience and/or knowledge of storage and shipment of food grade items preferred
• Experience with both inbound and outbound international shipments preferred
• Knowledge of labor management systems
