Intellectus, a fast-growing investment and advisory firm, seeks a Director of Operations in San Francisco. You will partner with the Founder/CEO to build scalable operating infrastructure, discipline and controls that support rapid growth while preserving entrepreneurial culture.
Lead the operations function, oversee fund, SPV, co-investment and product ops, and drive cross‑team execution with technology, data and AI.
Full-time | Reports directly to the Founder/CEO
Intellectus is a rapidly growing, multi-billion-dollar investment and advisory firm built around entrepreneurs, founders, executives, and sophisticated families.
Our platform extends well beyond traditional wealth management. We advise some of the most sophisticated families and executives in Silicon Valley and beyond. We manage portfolios across public and private markets, operate proprietary equity strategies, launch venture funds, SPVs, and other investment vehicles, advise founders and family offices, and are building proprietary AI technology designed to transform how advice, investing, and operations are delivered. We are entrepreneurial by nature and institutional in our ambitions.
As we continue to scale rapidly, we are looking for an exceptional Director of Operations to help us build the operating infrastructure, discipline, and scalability required for what comes next.
Wealth and investment management are entering a period of extraordinary change—driven by artificial intelligence, regulatory evolution, new investment structures, and the convergence of traditional business models. Intellectus is operating at the intersection of these forces, creating a unique opportunity to help build what the next generation of an investment and advisory firm looks like.
The Director of Operations will work directly with the Founder/CEO and senior team as a highly hands‑on operator across our increasingly sophisticated platform. This person will help translate innovation and growth into institutional‑quality execution—building the processes, controls, systems, and operating discipline that allow Intellectus to scale without sacrificing speed or entrepreneurialism.
We need someone who understands business. Someone who creates order from complexity. Someone who sees things falling through the cracks and catches them. And someone we can increasingly trust to take something important and simply make it work.
Your first responsibility is straightforward: make our Operations function exceptional.
Lead the day‑to‑day Operations function and continually improve the infrastructure, processes and controls supporting the firm.
This includes:
We are looking for someone who has worked inside a sophisticated investment organization and knows what great looks like—but is also willing to roll up their sleeves and build it.
You will also help us use technology, automation, data and AI aggressively to create operating leverage, allowing Intellectus to become more capable and scalable without simply adding people, process and bureaucracy.
Our objective is institutional rigor without institutional bureaucracy.
Intellectus is an entrepreneurial organization. We are constantly creating and launching things.
New investment strategies. Funds and SPVs. Private investments. Partnerships. Client capabilities. Technology. AI initiatives. New services. And, occasionally, entirely new businesses.
A major part of this role is becoming one of the people we can turn to and say:
“Here’s what we’re trying to accomplish. Figure out what needs to happen and get it done.”
You will:
This requires more than operational knowledge.
It requires judgment, initiative, resourcefulness and relentless follow‑through.
As Intellectus grows, the Founder/CEO cannot—and should not—remain the connective tissue for every operational issue, project and follow‑up across the firm.
The Director of Operations will help change that.
You will work directly with the Founder/CEO and senior team to:
Success is creating leverage around the CEO and senior team so they can spend more time on the activities where they create the greatest value: leading the organization, investing, serving clients, articulating the firm’s vision and winning new business.
Given the breadth of our platform, you will also work closely with our internal and external legal, compliance and risk resources.
This includes helping:
You should have enough institutional experience and judgment to recognize risk, ask the right questions, involve the right people and ensure nothing important gets lost.
We are looking for someone who has been trained inside a high‑performing, institutional‑quality investment organization and is ready for substantially broader responsibility.
Your background may be in a sophisticated hedge fund, private equity or venture capital firm, institutional asset manager, multi‑family office, investment bank, or advanced wealth and investment management platform.
What matters is that you've operated in an environment where the standards are exceptionally high, the investments and structures are complex, the pace is fast and operational excellence is expected.
You should:
You may currently own an important but relatively narrow piece of a sophisticated investment organization.
You're good at what you do, but you're ready for more.
You want exposure beyond a single function. You want to understand and influence how an entire investment organization works. You want to help launch funds, investment strategies, businesses, and technology — not simply operate one component of them.
You want greater proximity to decision‑making and the opportunity to see the direct impact of your work and you want to work somewhere where exceptional performance leads to substantially greater responsibility over time.
You are someone who has done this before and excelled at it and you can Make things work at scale.
