Job summary

Micro Facture seeks a Director of Operations to lead day-to-day manufacturing, oversee production, quality, and delivery commitments, and build a high-performance team on the shop floor.

You will own capacity planning, implement Lean practices, and drive cost efficiency while safeguarding customer relationships and profitability in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise all assigned employees and establish clear expectations for performance, accountability, attendance, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Create a culture of ownership, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the right people are in the right positions and identify training and development needs.
  • Conduct regular employee performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Establish daily and weekly production priorities.
  • Ensure jobs are completed on time and according to customer requirements.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to increase capacity without necessarily adding equipment.
  • Directs engineering, programming, purchasing, shipping/receiving, and production.

Job description

This position is a key leadership role within the company.All employees, with the exception of

the Quality Department and Administration, will report directly to the Director of

Operations. The Director of Operations will be responsible for ensuring that the company operates

efficiently, safely, profitably, and according to our quality standards while developing a strong,

accountable production team.

Key Responsibilities
1. Overall Operations Leadership
  • Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of Micro Facture.
  • Directly supervise all assigned employees and establish clear expectations for
  • performance, accountability, attendance, safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Create a culture of ownership, teamwork, urgency, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the right people are in the right positions and identify training and development
  • needs.
  • Conduct regular employee performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching.
  • Establish daily and weekly production priorities.
  • Ensure jobs are completed on time and according to customer requirements.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions to increase capacity without necessarily
  • adding equipment.
  • Directs engineering, programming, purchasing, shipping/receiving, and
  • production.
2. Production & Capacity
  • Oversee production scheduling and prioritize work based on customer requirements and
  • company capacity.
  • Monitor machine utilization and employee productivity.
  • Reduce setup time, downtime, waiting, rework, and unnecessary movement.
  • Develop and implement Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Identify opportunities for automation and robotic production.
  • Ensure production processes are documented and repeatable.
  • Develop strategies for maximizing existing machine capacity, including additional shifts
  • when appropriate.
3. Quality
  • Ensure all production meets Micro Facture's quality standards and customer
  • requirements.
  • Work closely with the Quality Manager to maintain AS9100 compliance.
  • Review quality issues, customer complaints, NCRs, scrap, and rework.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Promote a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and qualified for their assigned work.
4. Customer Relationship Management
  • Serve as a key point of contact for important customers.
  • Maintain strong communication regarding schedules, delivery, quality, and production
  • issues.
  • Ensure customer commitments are understood and communicated internally.
  • Develop long-term strategic relationships rather than focusing only on individual
  • purchase orders.
5. Financial & Business Performance

The Director of Operations will be expected to understand how operational decisions affect

profitability.

  • Monitor labor efficiency and manufacturing costs.
  • Monitor overtime and labor utilization.
  • Reduce scrap, rework, and outside-processing costs.
  • Review job profitability with ownership.
  • Help identify underperforming jobs and processes.
  • Work with purchasing to control material and outside-service costs.
  • Understand quoting assumptions and actual job performance.
  • Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting.

The Director of Operations must:

  • Be present and engaged on the shop floor.
  • Know what is happening in the business every day.
  • Make decisions rather than allowing problems to linger.
  • Solve problems at the root cause.
  • Protect the customer relationship.
  • Protect the profitability of the company.
  • Understand thatsafety, quality, delivery, and profitability are all connected.
