West Virginia seeks a Director to oversee the Governor’s Office constituent services team, scheduling and support team, and events coordinator, ensuring operations run with efficiency and integrity.

In coordination with the external affairs team, you will manage the appointment process for over 200 state boards, assist in personnel recruitment, and ensure timely briefing materials and internal alignment across communications and legislative affairs.

Formación

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a focus in public administration, business, human resources or law.
  • 4+ years of experience in senior operations or public administration, preferably within a government or corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in working in matrixed management structures and coordinating with and leading cross-functional teams

Reports to: Chief of Staff

This position will oversee the Governor’s Office constituent services team, Governor’s scheduling and support team, and events coordinator. The position, in coordination with the external affairs team, manages activities tied to the appointment process for over 200 state boards. This role assists the Chief of Staff in managing high-level personnel recruitment. By coordinating closely with leadership, the Director ensures the Governor’s administrative and public-facing operations function with seamless efficiency and integrity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for oversight of the constituent services team which carries out the following duties:

    • Ensures timely completion of constituent casework
    • Manages constituent correspondence activities
    • Reviews and evaluates all requests for gubernatorial proclamations, awards, certificates of commendation, recognitions, and other community engagements
  • Responsible for management of the daily activities of the Governor’s scheduling and support team

    • Establishes appropriate systems and processes to ensure all requests for meetings with the Governor and requests for Governor’s participation in external events are responded to in a timely manner and approved requests are clearly placed on the Governor’s schedule
    • Ensures the Governor receives all required briefing materials in advance of meetings, speaking events, and external engagements
    • Ensures the scheduling and support team are clearly coordinating with the communications, external affairs, and legislative affairs teams as well as the Events Coordinator to ensure there is internal alignment on Governor’s schedule
  • Responsible for management of the Governor’s Office events coordinator and ensures appropriate coordination between the coordinator and the Communications, External Affairs, and Legislative Affairs teams

  • Together with the Director of External Affairs, responsible for ensuring that the Governor is supported in all activities related to appointments to the over 200 state government boards and commissions:

    • Establishes and manages processes to identify upcoming board vacancies and timely identify potential replacement candidates
    • Utilizes internal and external networks to identify candidates that align with Governor’s policy agenda
    • Responsible for managing a thorough vetting process to ensure any potential candidate’s background and experience meets all requirements for board/commission service
  • Assists the Governor and Chief of Staff in identifying, vetting, and recommending potential candidates for appointments throughout state government

Qualifications
