Responsibilities

The Department Manager oversees the food service program at a single site, ensuring high food quality standards, inventory management, food safety, and customer service. Responsibilities include adhering to menus, regulations, and policies to provide quality dining services.

  • Lead and support the food service team to meet quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of income, expenditures, food supplies, personnel, and equipment using HCSG software.
  • Conduct staff training, quality control, and in-service sessions; perform roles of dietary aide, cook, and dishwasher as needed.
  • Communicate directives effectively to staff and clients.
  • Ensure safety by using protective gear and reporting equipment needs or malfunctions.
  • Follow infection control and sanitation procedures.
  • Maintain punctuality and task completion.
  • Represent HCSG positively through courteous interactions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher in food service management or hospitality; relevant coursework preferred.
  • Two years of experience in food production/service and supervision preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) preferred or as required by law.
  • Must obtain Food Protection Manager (FPM) certification within 14 days of employment.
  • Must obtain Food Service Manager (FSM) and LTC-FSM certifications within 60 days.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Positive attitude and effective communication with staff and leadership.
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination policies.
  • Ability to lift, push, and stand for extended periods.
  • Basic computer skills for record keeping and reporting.
  • Residency within the service area required.
