Job summary

Ilocatum is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) for a skilled nursing facility in Waterbury, CT. This full-time, on-site role reports to the facility administrator and leads the nursing services department to ensure resident-centered care and regulatory compliance.

The DON will oversee staffing, clinical rounds, assessments, and care plans, partnering with the medical director and interdisciplinary team to drive quality and readiness for surveys.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Connecticut RN license.
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Active CPR certification.
• Extensive DON/ADON or nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or LTC facility.
• Strong knowledge of CMS Requirements of Participation and LTC regulations.

Responsibilities

• Direct the day-to-day operations of the nursing services department.
• Lead, schedule, recruit, and retain nursing staff and foster accountability and compassion.
• Perform regular clinical rounds for care delivery, meds, treatments, and infection control.
• Oversee resident assessments and care plans and address changes in condition.
• Collaborate with medical director, physicians, rehab, social services, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Lead QAPI and track clinical quality measures.
• Ensure survey readiness and plans of correction.
• Manage nursing budget, staffing, and supplies.
• Maintain staff credentials and records.
• Communicate with residents and families professionally.

Lead the nursing team at an established skilled nursing facility in the Greater Waterbury area.

Our client is a well-regarded long-term care organization looking for a Director of Nursing to take full ownership of the nursing services department. You'll report directly to the facility's top administrator and set the standard for resident-centered care, regulatory compliance, and nursing team culture.

Must-Haves

• Current, unencumbered Connecticut RN license
• Extensive DON, ADON, or nursing leadership experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility
• Strong working knowledge of CMS Requirements of Participation and state and federal LTC regulations
• Experience leading through state surveys and writing plans of correction
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Active CPR certification

Preferred

• BSN
• QAPI program leadership experience
• Nursing budget and staffing management experience

What You’ll Do
