Job summary

PACS Group is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the clinical team at Gateway Post Acute in Porterville, CA. The role directs nursing services, staffing, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and resident safety.

The ideal candidate will have a BSN (preferred), an active California RN license, CPR, and extensive nursing-management experience in long-term care. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
• Current California RN license in good standing required.
• Current CPR certification required.
• Seven years of nursing-management experience preferred.
• Director of Nursing or senior clinical leadership experience in skilled nursing or long‑term care strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of clinical operations, MDS, care planning, infection prevention, staffing, survey readiness, and quality assurance.
• Experience with PointClickCare preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Excellent clinical judgment, leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to develop employees, resolve problems, and promote accountability.
• Ability to manage multiple clinical and operational priorities.
• Must maintain all required continuing education and professional licensure.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage the overall operation of the Nursing Department.
• Maintain appropriate staffing levels and ensure adequate nursing coverage.
• Develop, implement, review, and enforce nursing policies and procedures.
• Ensure nursing services comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Promote resident safety, dignity, rights, and quality of life.
• Recruit, hire, orient, train, coach, and retain nursing employees.
• Supervise and support nursing staff and leadership.
• Conduct employee evaluations and address performance concerns.
• Develop and conduct clinical education, competencies, and in-service training.
• Make clinical rounds and monitor quality and documentation of resident care.
