Job summary

Mercy Washington is seeking a Director of Nursing (RN) to oversee multiple patient care departments and lead high-performing clinical teams. This leadership role focuses on operational excellence, patient safety, quality improvement, and financial stewardship in a mission-driven environment.

The ideal candidate will have a BSN, active RN license, a Master's degree or plan to obtain one, and 2+ years of Nurse Manager experience in an acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required.
• Active RN license is required.
• Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field, or plan to obtain one.
• Two+ years of Nurse Manager experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Proven experience in nursing operations, quality improvement, staff development, and budget management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct multiple nursing and patient care departments.
• Foster a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
• Lead evidence-based nursing practice and shared governance initiatives.
• Support workforce planning, staffing, retention, and employee engagement.
• Mentor and develop nurse managers and clinical leaders.
• Drive patient safety, quality outcomes, and regulatory readiness.
• Manage departmental operating and capital budgets; monitor performance.
• Build relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
