Job summary

Oak Brook Developmental Center in Illinois seeks an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the nursing department. You will oversee all nursing care, manage clinical staff, and ensure the facility meets state and federal ICF regulations.

The DON will drive clinical leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor staff, and collaborate on care plans and quality improvement initiatives to support residents’ wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in IL.
• Minimum of 2–3 years of nursing leadership experience as a DON in an ICF, or long-term care residential setting.
• Strong understanding of ICF regulations, Medicaid/Medicare standards, and person-centered active treatment.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Leadership: Direct and supervise all daily nursing operations and resident care services.
• Compliance & Quality: Maintain full compliance with state, federal, and ICF/IID regulations and health standards.
• Staff Management: Hire, train, schedule, mentor, and evaluate nurses and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
• Care Planning: Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to design and update active treatment and medical care plans for residents.
• Quality Assurance: Lead infection control, safety, and quality improvement programs within the facility.
