Experience & Requirements
- Associate degree or RN Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing highly preferred.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in healthcare / nursing administration.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of professional nursing experience.
- Active RN license in the state where the position is located with unrestricted/non-probationary status. Specialty certification desired (e.g., CCHP, ACHE).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Experience using Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Requires critical thinking, organizational, decisive judgment, communication, and good customer service skills. Must be able to handle multiple tasks, work in a stressful environment, and take appropriate actions as needed.
- Must always follow YesCare and departmental policies and procedures.
- Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements.
A background check, security clearance, and drug screening are required for this role.

Responsibilities
Below is a list of your responsibilities as a Director of Nursing (DON) with YesCare: Easterling Correctional Facility - Location: Clio, Alabama
Salary: $98,970.00
- Supervises all nursing staff, unlicensed assistive personnel, and designated ancillary medical healthcare staff.
- Oversees departmental budgets and maintains healthcare supplies and medication management.
- Reports to higher management within the healthcare facility.
- Maintains high standards of care for all patients.
- Manages patients’ data and medical records as confidential records.
- Communicates with doctors, patients, and family members about patient healthcare needs.
- Recruits, trains, and onboard new nursing staff and unlicensed assistive personnel. Participates in screening interviews to assess basic knowledge, skills, and fit within the corrections environment.
- Provides ongoing education related to nursing and healthcare topics. Coordinates and monitors orientation, in-service, and continuing education for nursing and ancillary personnel to enhance performance levels.
- Implements and monitors new procedures and trains nurses on policies and procedures.
- Establishes and maintains an effective work structure and processes to meet goals for patient care, adhering to contract requirements and healthcare policies.
- Supports professional and paraprofessional nursing staff in patient care provision.
- Develops and maintains monthly schedules for nursing staff, ensuring adequate staffing with appropriate skill levels per shift.
- Ensures nursing practice complies with state licensure, accreditation, and regulatory agency standards.
- Acts as a liaison with other units, agencies, and outside officials.
- Maintains accurate nursing records.
- Monitors and contributes to the continuous quality improvement program, identifying trends and gaps in care and participating in related activities or projects.
- Fosters an environment that values professional conflict resolution.
- Approaches problems with objectivity, thoroughness, insightfulness, and probing behaviors.
- Follows standard precautions and uses personal protective equipment as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
