Legacy Healthcare in Illinois seeks an experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the skilled nursing department, drive clinical excellence, and ensure regulatory compliance. The DON will develop teams, improve outcomes, and foster a positive culture of care across the facility.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, visible, and collaborative with administration and interdisciplinary teams to advance resident care and staff development.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in good standing.
• Experience as Director of Nursing or senior nursing leadership.
• Skilled nursing/long-term care/post-acute experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of SNF regulations.
• Experience with state and federal surveys preferred.
• Strong focus on quality improvement and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction to the nursing department.
• Oversee daily nursing operations and resident care.
• Lead and support RNs, LPNs/LVNs, CNAs, and nursing leadership.
• Establish clear clinical and performance expectations.
• Monitor resident care and clinical outcomes.
• Maintain visibility through regular rounds and teamwork across departments.
• Ensure accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Develop, implement, and monitor nursing policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Lead nursing preparation for state and federal surveys.
• Monitor quality measures and clinical performance.
• Lead and participate in QAPI initiatives.
