Job summary

BrightStar Care of Miami, FL is seeking a Director of Nursing to lead clinical staff and ensure care meets Joint Commission standards. The DON will supervise skilled and private duty clients, oversee documentation, and work with the clinical team to maintain high-quality care.

The role requires a Florida RN license, a Bachelor's in Nursing, CPR certification, and at least two years in home care nursing with managerial experience. Located in North Miami area with travel to patient sites as needed.

• Current Florida RN license in good standing must be active.
• CPR certification required.

DON Responsibilities

• Promote and enhance the level of clinical expertise of staff to provide safe and quality nursing care and documentation as necessary
• Review physician’s orders and update the plans of care and documentation as necessary
• Assist with interviewing, selecting, training, and validation of new team members
• Internal case management, evaluation, and development of nursing talent
• Ensure adherence to state, federal, JCAHO, and local policies and procedures
• Supervise nursing staff providing in-skilled nursing care to clients of all ages
• Up to 15 hours per week of direct nursing care (Skilled infusion / Bedside Care) is part of the job responsibility
• Help with calls (Intake, Customers, Employees) when required
• Staffing Nursing cases when needed
• Exceptional Communication skills - Communicate with internal team, employees, pharmacy partners, vendors, customers in an effective and timely manner

DON Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• Current Florida RN license in good standing
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in home care nursing
• Management and nursing administrative experience required
• Current CPR certification
• Current driver's license
• TB skin test results within one year of hire or chest X-ray within 5 years of hire
• Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19
• Ability to commute to work in North Miami daily and commute to customer location when needed.
