Job summary

STG International seeks a Director of Nursing in Kernersville, NC to lead the nursing department, ensure resident‑centered care, and drive QA/QI initiatives. You will ensure adherence to directives, coordinate with other professionals, and oversee staffing and safety programs in a facility setting.

The role requires an active RN license, 3+ years of supervisory experience, and 6+ months in rehabilitative nursing, with on‑site responsibility and full‑time hours.

Qualifications

  • Must have a current unencumbered RN license in the state.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide age-appropriate resident care.
  • Minimum 3 years supervisory experience in a health facility.
  • Minimum 6 months rehabilitative/restorative nursing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct nursing services, ensuring resident preferences and advance directives are observed.
  • Plan, organize, and direct the nursing department per regulations and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with health care professionals to support resident care and facility mission.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor a QAPI program for nursing services.
  • Oversee 24-hour nursing operations, shifts, and incident follow-up.
  • Lead staff development and infection prevention programs.
  • Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules; ensure accuracy.

DIRECTOR OF NURSING

Kernersville, North Carolina

Full-Time/Regular

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure that medical and nursing care are administered in accordance with the resident's wishes, including the implementation of advance directives.
  • Ensure that residents receive individualized care that is culturally competent and based on resident preferences.
  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the nursing services department and its programs and activities in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines governing nursing care facilities.
  • Collaborate with other health care professionals in the development and support of resident care, administrative functions, and facility mission.
  • Participate in the annual facility assessment.
  • Develop, implement and maintain an ongoing quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) program for the nursing services department.
  • Monitor the nursing 24‑hour and change‑of‑shift reports to ensure timely and effective responses to significant changes in residents' condition, transfers, discharges, new restraints, unexplained injuries, falls, incidents, accidents, behavioral management episodes, and/or medication errors.
  • Oversee the staff development program to ensure nursing team members have the tools, training, and resources to properly care for residents.
  • Work with the Infection Preventionist to establish and maintain an infection prevention and control program.
  • Monitor medication passes and treatment schedules to ensure that medication is administered as ordered and treatments are provided as scheduled.
  • Actively participate in the QAPI Committee.
  • Participate in risk management and safety committees to mitigate risk.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
  • Must possess a current unencumbered active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age‑related needs of the residents served.
  • Must have, as a minimum, three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a hospital, nursing care facility or other related health care facility.
  • Must have, as a minimum, six (6) months of experience in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices.
REQUIRED EDUCATION
  • Must possess, as a minimum, an Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Works in office areas as well as throughout the facility and its premises.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary. On call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.
