Job summary

Newport Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Christiana, PA is seeking a Director of Nursing (DON) to oversee the Nursing Department and ensure high-quality resident care 24/7. The DON will lead development and implementation of clinical policies, coordinate staffing, and drive regulatory compliance while supporting a compassionate care culture for Residents and families.

This role requires strong leadership, a PA RN license, and a track record in long-term care management.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Active RN License in the State of Pennsylvania.
• Minimum of 1 year professional nursing experience in long-term care setting.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working as a DON.
• Knowledge of infection control and MDS/Care Planning.
• Ability to develop nursing policies reflecting current clinical practice and facility philosophy of care.
• Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations governing long-term care.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring nursing staff provides quality resident/patient care meeting standards.
• Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and licensing regulatory standards.
• Leading or participating in Quality Improvement groups and multidisciplinary meetings.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, orientation/training, and retaining qualified staff.
• Ensure employee performance meets expectations and conduct timely appraisals.
• Assist scheduling and rounds to monitor quality and appropriateness of care.
• Adhere to scope-of-practice limitations based on qualifications.
• May perform patient care duties as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensuring nursing staff is providing quality and appropriate resident/patient care that meets or exceeds company and regulatory standards
• Ensuring compliance with state, federal, and licensing agency regulatory standards
• Leading and/or participating in Quality Improvement (QI) groups and other multidisciplinary meetings
• May assist with recruiting, hiring, providing orientation/training, and retaining a sufficient number of qualified staff to carry out the responsibilities of nursing services
• Ensuring employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and periodic performance appraisals are conducted on a timely basis
• Assists with scheduling and performing rounds to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care
• Adheres to scope of practice limitations based on qualifications
• May occasionally be required to perform patient care duties
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing

• Minimum of 2 years experience working as a DON
• Possess a working knowledge and ability to apply standards of professional nursing practice in job situations
• Ability to develop nursing policies and procedures that reflect current clinical practice, professional standards, and facility philosophy of care
• Knowledge of and ability to apply current principles of infection control to facility and resident-specific situations
• Knowledge of MDS and Care Planning Process
• Current knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations that apply to practice of nursing in long-term care
