Job summary

Japanese American Citizens League (JACL) is seeking a Business Development Director to lead national fundraising, membership growth, and revenue diversification. You will report to the Executive Director and work with the National Board to align philanthropy with JACL’s civil rights mission.

The role is hybrid based in San Francisco or Los Angeles, with travel up to 25%. You’ll oversee a growing development function, including a small team and a robust donor portfolio.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive fundraising or development experience in nonprofits, advocacy, or civil rights organizations.
• Proven history of cultivating and closing five- to six-figure gifts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute national fundraising strategy and membership growth.
• Lead major gifts program and stewardship systems.
• Manage institutional funding via foundations, corporations, and sponsors.
• Partner with the Executive Director and National Board on strategy and reporting.
• Lead national campaigns and chapters to grow local giving.
