TRIDENT SYSTEMS LLC in Sterling, VA, is seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to build, lead, and grow the mechanical engineering discipline in support of DoD and space programs. This dual-track role combines functional management with technical signature authority over mechanical designs and analyses.

The Director defines processes, standards, and best practices, balancing engineering rigor with program delivery.

Competenze

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 15+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 13+ years with a Master's degree, including demonstrated experience leading mechanical engineering teams.
• Experience as design authority or technical signature/approval role for aerospace/space hardware.
• Experience with staff management, performance management, and career development.
• Experience with aerospace/space hardware development and PDM/configuration management.

Mansioni

• Serve as Cognizant Mechanical Engineer design authority with sign-off for mechanical designs.
• Lead the mechanical design of spacecraft electronics assemblies using CAD tools.
• Review and approve structural and thermal analyses for flight readiness.
• Provide technical oversight of environmental testing (vibration, TVAC, shock).
• Resolve cross-disciplinary technical issues across mechanical, electrical, software domains.
• Represent mechanical engineering in customer, program, and executive reviews.
• Define and improve mechanical engineering processes, standards, and best practices.
• Lead mentoring, staffing, and performance management for the mechanical team.
