Job summary

nEye.ai is seeking a Director of Mechanical Engineering to own all mechanical design, simulation, and manufacturing for our optical switch products. You will lead a small team or act as a strong individual contributor while guiding cross-functional engineering efforts and engaging with packaging experts.

You will oversee stress/strain, modal, and thermal simulations, ensuring performance and long-term reliability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and analysis.
• Experience leading or managing a small engineering team.
• Experience designing mechanical systems for telecom or data center industries.
• Expert-level proficiency with 3D-CAD and finite element tools.
• Strong thermal management and simulation experience in electronic systems.

Responsibilities

• Design precision mechanical components and assemblies supporting MEMS and silicon photonics devices.
• Develop enclosures, mounting structures, fiber management, and thermal hardware.
• Lead designs from concept through prototype, validation, and production.
• Build and organize the Mechanical team for scaling projects.
• Collaborate with vendors and manage first article inspections.
