Job summary

LifeStream Behavioral Center in Leesburg, FL seeks a Director of MIS to lead technology strategy and operations, guiding data governance, security, and modernization across the organization.

You will advance the EHR platform (SmartCare, Epic, Netsmart), ensure regulatory compliance, and drive analytics to support clinical excellence and efficient workflows.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Health Informatics, or related field is required.
• Master's degree in Information Systems, Health Administration, or Business Administration is highly preferred.
• Minimum of eight (8) years in health care IT, with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role.
• Experience with EHR platforms (SmartCare, Epic, Netsmart) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic IT leadership in planning, implementing, and maintaining information systems across LifeStream.
• Partner with VP of Quality Improvement to optimize the EHR platform and workflow efficiency.
• Ensure system functionality aligns with audit readiness, incident reporting, and data governance.
• Direct cybersecurity initiatives to protect patient data and HIPAA compliance.
• Develop and lead an IT modernization roadmap including cloud computing and telehealth expansion.
• Represent IT in senior management meetings, audits, and cross‑departmental initiatives.
• Track performance metrics and prepare executive reports for technology investments.
• Create secure interfaces between the EHR and external partners for data exchange.

Job Purpose:- The Director of Management Information Systems (MIS) provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all information technology services and infrastructure across LifeStream Behavioral Center. This includes management implementation of secure digital solutions, data governance, and operational modernization. The Director ensures the security, efficiency, and reliability of technology services while spearheading innovation that aligns with organizational goals, clinical excellence, and compliance standards.Key Responsibilities:- Provide strategic vision senior leadership in the planning, implementation, and maintenance of all information systems, including core business applications.- Partnership with VP of Quality Improvement and continuously improve the EHR platform (e.g., SmartCare), ensuring it supports documentation integrity, billing accuracy, regulatory compliance, and clinical workflow efficiency.- Partner with Quality, Risk, Compliance, and Clinical Leadership to ensure system functionality aligns with audit readiness, incident reporting, data analytics, and medical records integrity.- Direct all cybersecurity initiatives to safeguard patient information, ensure HIPAA compliance, and defend against emerging threats through technical safeguards and staff education.- Develop and lead a comprehensive IT modernization roadmap that supports secure mobile access, automation, cloud computing, interoperability, and telehealth expansion.- Represent the IT function in senior management meetings, audits, strategic planning sessions, and cross-departmental initiatives.- Track performance metrics and prepare executive reports to inform decision-making and technology investments.- Partner with Quality Improvement to implement secure interfaces between the EHR and external partners, labs, payers, and regulatory bodies to streamline data exchange.- Create and maintain policies related to system access control, change management, data governance, and technology usage.Required Education:- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Health Informatics, or related field required.
