Job summary

George Thomas, in partnership with a leading corrugated and print packaging manufacturer based in CA, seeks a Director of Maintenance to support four manufacturing locations in CA. • Manage maintenance budgets, capital projects and site improvement programs.

George Thomas has partnered with a leading corrugated and print packaging manufacturer based in CA.

Our client is seeking to hire a Director of Maintenance to support 4 of their manufacturing locations in CA.

This is an onsite role that will involve travel to the locations to support in driving maintenance and reliability initiatives alongside leading a team.

Location - Central Valley CA

Salary - $180,000-$215,000 (total compensation inclusive of a bonus)

Position Requirements Include:

• Providing strategic leadership for the maintenance function across a complex, multi-shift manufacturing operation, ensuring equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and workplace safety.
• Building, developing, and mentoring a high-performing maintenance leadership team and skilled technical workforce through coaching, succession planning, and professional development.
• Creating a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous learning, and collaboration while promoting safe work practices and regulatory compliance.
• Partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Safety, HR, and Finance teams to align maintenance priorities with broader business and production objectives.
• Developing and executing maintenance strategies that support long-term operational performance, asset reliability, and sustainable business growth.
• Leading the implementation and advancement of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), reliability-centered maintenance, predictive maintenance, and preventive maintenance programs.
• Utilizing key performance indicators including OEE, MTBF, MTTR, downtime, maintenance costs, and equipment reliability metrics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.
• Championing root cause analysis and structured problem-solving methodologies to eliminate recurring equipment failures and operational losses.
• Managing maintenance budgets, capital planning initiatives, equipment upgrades, and facility improvement projects to ensure effective allocation of resources.
• Providing leadership across multiple sites while promoting consistency in maintenance standards, processes, and best practices.

To Be Considered for This Role You Have:

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Operations Management, or a related discipline; equivalent experience will also be considered.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive maintenance leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience leading maintenance operations across multiple facilities or within a large-scale manufacturing network.
• Proven success building and developing high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring, and change leadership.
• Strong expertise in equipment reliability, asset management, TPM, preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
• Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver measurable gains in uptime, throughput, cost performance, and operational effectiveness.
• Exceptional problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and strategic planning capabilities.
• Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital projects, and cross-functional initiatives.
• Preferred experience within corrugated packaging, folding carton, paper, printing, or other high-volume industrial manufacturing environments.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, reliability engineering, and modern maintenance management systems.
