Job summary

The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) is seeking an Executive Director to oversee the Licensing and Standards Division, including Driver, Vehicle, and Base/Business Licensing, plus the Fitness Review and Quality Assurance units. The role requires coordinating with teams, driving continuous improvements, and ensuring regulatory compliance, with on-site and off-site meeting representation.

Minimum qualifications emphasize graduate-level education and progressive leadership

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, plus two years of satisfactory full‑time professional experience in budget, economics, or management analysis; 18 months in supervisory capacity.
• Bachelor's degree with four years of professional experience including supervisory experience as described above.
• Combination of education and experience equivalent to the options above; high school plus eight years of experience with the required leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Create plans for efficiency and identify improvement projects.
• Identify processes to automate and provide guidance.
• Establish performance standards and monitor results.
• Train, mentor, and coach staff and supervisors.
• Coordinate with sister agencies on best practices.
• Attend and present at Commission hearings and meetings.
