Job summary

The South Dakota Legislative Research Council (LRC) is seeking a permanent, full-time Director in Pierre to lead administrative, managerial, and strategic direction for the agency. The Director will ensure professional, confidential, and objective research, legal, and fiscal services to the 105 members of the South Dakota Legislature.

• Extensive experience in a legislative environment.
• Managerial or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing Operations, Information and Technology, Legal, and Fiscal divisions.
• Providing staff services to the Executive Board and legislative committees.
• Hiring, supervising, and evaluating staff attorneys, analysts, and support personnel.
• Developing and managing the LRC's budget.
• Serving as parliamentary advisor to the South Dakota Legislature.
• Ensuring updated, accurate codified laws and rules.
