Emergence is seeking its first dedicated Director of Legal to establish the day-to-day legal function across its portfolio. You will work closely with a fractional General Counsel and specialized outside counsel to triage, route, and handle routine matters while building scalable playbooks and processes.

This remote, U.S.-based role offers significant impact, equity, and the opportunity to shape governance, contract templates, and risk management across software businesses in the portfolio.

Formación

• J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in at least one U.S. state.
• 3–5 years of legal experience, ideally with meaningful time at a smaller company or an early-stage in-house function.
• Ability to build and implement playbooks and processes where none exist.
• Strong commercial contract instincts and risk judgment.

Responsabilidades

• Serve as the first point of contact for legal questions across all portfolio companies using an AI-assisted intake system.
• Build centralized matter intake, tracking, playbooks, escalation protocols, and portfolio-wide reporting.
• Coordinate contract templates, liaise with outside counsel on design and negotiation positions.
• Support outside counsel panel management, pricing, and engagement terms.
• Review and negotiate routine vendor and customer contracts within playbooks and thresholds.
• Manage entity and subsidiary governance and post-acquisition legal workstreams.
