The Director of Learning & Development will lead the development of a world-class training organization focused on automotive technical excellence, technician development, service center performance, and leadership capability.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution. The Director will partner closely with franchisees, field operations, service center leaders, technicians, HR, and executive leadership to identify skill gaps and build training programs that improve vehicle repair quality, technician proficiency, customer experience, safety, and overall service center performance.
The ideal candidate understands that effective automotive training goes beyond the classroom. They are comfortable in a service center environment, can engage with technicians and shop leadership, and know how to translate automotive repair standards, tools, technology, and processes into practical training that technicians can apply on the job.
Develop and lead a company-wide automotive learning and development strategy aligned with service center performance, technician capability, franchise growth, and customer satisfaction.
Build structured training programs for automotive technicians, service advisors, service center managers, franchise leaders, and field operations teams.
Develop and maintain technical training covering areas such as vehicle diagnostics, preventive maintenance, automotive systems, repair procedures, tools and equipment, vehicle safety, and repair quality standards.
Partner with field leadership and service center teams to identify technician skill gaps, training needs, and operational performance opportunities.
Develop training pathways that support technicians throughout their careers, from entry-level automotive service skills through advanced diagnostic and repair capabilities.
Establish consistent training and certification standards that promote safe, accurate, and efficient vehicle repairs across the Precision Tune network.
Lead the rollout and delivery of training programs through hands-on instruction, instructor-led training, virtual learning, coaching, demonstrations, and LMS-based programs.
Conduct regular field and service center visits to observe technicians, evaluate repair processes, assess training effectiveness, and coach leadership teams.
Work directly with technicians and service center leaders to reinforce automotive repair standards, diagnostic processes, safety procedures, and best practices.
Develop training that keeps pace with new vehicle technologies, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), diagnostic equipment, electronic systems, hybrid and EV technologies, tools, and evolving repair practices.
Ensure training content reflects applicable automotive safety standards, environmental requirements, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Partner with Operations and Field Leadership to support new equipment, systems, tools, processes, and service offerings through targeted training.
Establish measurable KPIs to evaluate technician proficiency, training completion, certification, repair quality, productivity, customer satisfaction, safety, and training ROI.
Use field performance data and feedback to continuously improve technical and leadership training programs.
Collaborate with executive leadership, Operations, HR, franchisees, and field leadership to align training initiatives with business and automotive service priorities.
Identify and manage relationships with automotive training providers, technical experts, OEM/aftermarket resources, technology partners, and other training vendors as appropriate.
Manage training budgets, resources, schedules, and program implementation across the service center network.
Serve as a visible champion of technical excellence, vehicle safety, continuous learning, and professional development within the automotive service organization.
