Job summary

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, located in New York, seeks a Director of Lateral Growth to lead the Corporate Practice Group’s growth via lateral partner recruitment in the United States. The role reports to senior strategy and growth leaders and requires deep knowledge of transactional law markets.

Qualifications

• Eight years of experience in strategic business development and/or lateral recruitment, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.
• Strong understanding of the legal industry, including transactional practice areas and market dynamics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
• Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Partner with practice group leaders to define lateral needs and candidate profiles.
• Advise leaders on growth initiatives, trends, and market developments.
• Develop and manage lateral hiring priorities and candidate profiles.
• Coordinate with recruiting teams and search firms on searches.
• Develop integration programs for lateral hires to align with strategic priorities.
• Monitor performance and retention of lateral hires and provide feedback.
