Job summary

The Nature Conservancy in New Jersey seeks a Director of Lands to lead strategic planning, land conservation, and stewardship. You will partner with public and private sectors to advance 2030 goals, manage a multi-disciplinary team, and ensure responsible budgets and fundraising targets.

This role requires BA/BS and 7+ years in conservation, with strong leadership, negotiation, and partnership-building skills. Travel and collaboration with communities, tribes, and agencies are essential.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree required with 7+ years in conservation or related field.
• Experience managing complex projects and budgets.
• Supervisory experience and ability to lead diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead NJ’s contributions to Appalachians land protection and connectivity work and broader regional lands initiatives.
• Scale land conservation, stewardship and accessibility efforts in NJ.
• Develop equitable land conservation strategies, including Indigenous Peoples engagement.
• Direct lands policy efforts with Government Relations.
• Develop and direct strategy; manage a portfolio of projects and communicate results to stakeholders.
