Job summary

MAAS Companies, Inc. seeks a Design Manager for A&E Services to oversee the District's design process from initial drawings to buildable plans. You will coordinate architects, consultants, and LAUSD staff to keep projects on schedule and within budget.

You will lead firm selection, direct goals and standards, and review designs for educational and building-code compliance, reporting progress with findings and recommendations.

Qualifications

• 8 years of full-time paid professional experience managing facilities design, or planning and coordinating capital projects that included the overall design, contract administration, cost estimating, and scheduling
• 4 of those years on the design, planning, and construction of schools or similar public agencies
• A bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering (required for this role)
• The judgment to direct several architects and projects at once and keep decisions moving

Responsibilities

• Oversee the District's design process for A&E Services, from first drawings to a set of plans the District can build from
• Manage several engineering repair and critical repair projects at once, coordinating architects, consultants, and District staff
• Lead the process for selecting the architecture firm best suited to each project based on deliverables
• Provide clear direction to architects on goals, standards, site, schedule, and budget
• Lead the design review process to ensure designs meet LAUSD standards and deliver value
• Review design changes to ensure projects stay within budget
• Report on planning and design status with findings and recommendations
