Job summary

The Office of the Inspector General in Albuquerque seeks a Director to lead the OIG, directing investigations, audits, evaluations and reviews to promote accountability and integrity in City government.

The Director will manage a professional staff, develop strategic goals, coordinate with federal, state and local partners, and ensure compliance with MSO and AGOO while reporting to the Mayor and City Council.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in criminal justice, accounting, auditing, business or related field.
• Six years of audit/investigation, financial management, or related government oversight.
• Five years of direct supervisory experience.
• Professional certifications such as CPA, CIA or CFE preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assume full management and operations responsibility for the Office of Inspector General.
• Manage a staff of professional investigators and coordinate with other agencies.
• Receive and investigate complaints from ethics boards, officials, employees or the public.
• Ensure investigations comply with City, state and federal laws and quality standards.
• Coordinate information exchange with federal, state and local entities to prevent and prosecute fraud.
• Develop strategic goals, policies and priorities for the OIG.
• Prepare and manage the OIG budget and supervise personnel.
• Maintain records for each investigation for required retention periods.
• Investigate violations of the City Code of Ethics and Elections Code as directed.
