Job summary

The New York City Department of Investigation (DOI) seeks a Deputy Inspector General to oversee investigations and audits across agencies including HPD, Buildings, and SBSD. The role emphasizes leadership, accountability, and transparent practices in municipal oversight.

You will supervise staff, draft reports, and build partnerships with law enforcement to ensure timely, compliant outcomes in affordable housing and construction programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years in investigation, auditing, or related field.
• At least 18 months in supervisory/ managerial role; Commissioner approval required.
• Alternate qualifications with policy judgment in criminal justice areas.

Responsibilities

• Assess allegations and guide investigative operations including subpoenas.
• Lead confidential investigations of fraud, corruption, misconduct, and waste.
• Oversee drafting of investigative reports with corrective actions.
• Collaborate with other agencies and prosecutorial bodies.
• Manage personnel and resources for timely outcomes.
• Undertake special projects as assigned.
