IT Director / Director of Technology Platforms

Location: Southern US — Southeast or Southwest, including Atlanta, Nashville or Dallas

We’re partnering with a private equity-backed education and training business to appoint a Director of Technology Platforms. With growth through acquisitions and new campuses, the business needs an experienced technology leader to take ownership of its systems, suppliers and technology roadmap.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the executive team, you will ensure technology supports the admissions and student journey, financial operations and continued expansion.

The opportunity

You will lead a small internal technology capability supported by specialist partners and managed service providers. The role combines strategic direction with practical delivery, requiring the technical judgment to challenge suppliers and the commercial awareness to prioritize investment.

An interim leader will be in place initially, ahead of the permanent appointment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technology strategy, architecture and investment roadmap.
• Lead Salesforce platform direction, including admissions, applicant and student-facing capabilities.
• Oversee business applications, including NetSuite, and ensure reliable integration across platforms.
• Establish clear ownership, change controls and accountability across systems and suppliers.
• Manage vendor relationships, contracts, costs and delivery performance.
• Lead technology assessments and integration planning for acquisitions and new campuses.
• Oversee cybersecurity, access controls, business continuity and outsourced IT support.
• Work with senior stakeholders to translate business priorities into practical technology improvements.
• Direct experience working within a higher education, university, college, vocational education or training provider environment.
• Strong Salesforce platform ownership experience, including oversight of architecture, governance and specialist delivery partners.
• A track record in an IT Director, Head of Technology, Head of IT or comparable leadership role.
• Experience overseeing business applications and integrations across a growing organization.
• Strong vendor management skills, including contracts, budgets and delivery accountability.
• The ability to communicate confidently with senior business leaders and take ownership of technology decisions.
