Job summary

Trust for the National Mall seeks a Director of Individual Philanthropy to lead a strategic program that cultivates and solicits gifts from individuals for Our Monumental Moment, the Campaign for the National Mall, and America’s 250th anniversary initiatives.

You will manage three donor recognition societies (Monumental Circle, TLC, TCC), drive membership strategy, and contribute to AMERICA'S BALL sponsorships and donor stewardship. The role reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy.

Qualifications

• Experience cultivating and soliciting individual gifts.
• Track record with four-, five-, and six-figure gifts.
• Ability to build and manage donor recognition societies.

Responsibilities

• Manage and grow a portfolio of individual donors capable of four-to-six-figure gifts.
• Solicit and steward gifts to support Our Monumental Moment and related campaigns.
• Oversee donor recognition societies: Monumental Circle, TLC, and TCC.
• Contribute to AMERICA'S BALL sponsorships, membership strategy, donor stewardship, and events.

Job description

The Director of Individual Philanthropy serves as a key member of the Philanthropy Team by managing and growing a portfolio of individual donors to contribute to the Trust's Our Monumental Moment (OMM): Campaign for the National Mall inspired by America's 250th anniversary in 2026 and beyond. In addition to cultivating and soliciting individual donors with the capacity to make four, five, and six-figure gifts, the Director of Individual Philanthropy manages three donor recognition societies including, the Monumental Circle (planned giving), Trust Leadership Council (TLC) and Trust Cornerstone Circle (TCC). The Director of Individual Philanthropy also contributes to AMERICA'S BALL for THE MALL sponsorship acquisition, membership strategy, donor stewardship, and Philanthropy Department event planning. The Director of Individual Philanthropy reports to the Vice President of Philanthropy.
