Job summary

Coastal Building Maintenance in Miami, FL seeks a Director of Housekeeping to oversee all housekeeping and laundry operations, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet cleanliness, safety, and presentation standards. Responsibilities

• Direct daily housekeeping and laundry operations to maintain quality.
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate staff.
• Conduct regular inspections and address deficiencies.
• Coordinate with Front Office and Maintenance on room readiness.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget including labor and supplies.
• Monitor inventory, purchasing, and stock levels.
• Establish cleaning procedures and inspection checklists.
• Respond to guest concerns professionally and take corrective actions.
• Ensure safe work practices and chemical safety compliance.
• Manage lost-and-found procedures and guest privacy.
• Monitor performance and implement improvements.
• Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements.

The Director of Housekeeping oversees all housekeeping and laundry operations, ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet the property’s standards for cleanliness, safety, and presentation. This role leads the housekeeping team, manages departmental expenses, and works closely with other departments to deliver an excellent guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct daily housekeeping and laundry operations, maintaining consistent quality and service standards.
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate housekeeping managers, supervisors, room attendants, public area attendants, and laundry staff.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest rooms, public areas, and workspaces; address deficiencies promptly.
• Coordinate with Front Office and Maintenance to prioritize room readiness, repairs, and guest requests.
• Develop and manage the departmental budget, including labor, supplies, linen, equipment, and contracted services.
• Monitor inventory, oversee purchasing, and maintain appropriate stock levels while controlling waste and loss.
• Establish cleaning procedures, inspection checklists, and preventive cleaning schedules.
• Respond to guest concerns professionally and follow through on corrective actions.
• Ensure safe work practices, proper chemical handling, appropriate protective equipment, and compliance with applicable health and safety requirements.
• Manage lost-and-found procedures and support guest privacy and property security.
• Monitor departmental performance and implement improvements in productivity, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
• Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.

Qualifications

• At least five years of progressive housekeeping experience in a hotel, resort, or similar environment, including two years in a management role.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage schedules, and maintain high cleanliness standards.
• Experience with budgeting, labor management, purchasing, and inventory control.
• Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and guest service skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, laundry operations, equipment, and chemical safety.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications; experience with property management or housekeeping systems preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality education or relevant certification preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varying shifts based on operational needs.
• Ability to move throughout the property, inspect rooms and work -areas, and demonstrate cleaning procedures.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
