Job summary

The City of Seattle Human Services Department seeks a Division Director to lead its Homelessness Division. This executive role directs policy, budget, and contracts totaling over $175 million, and partners with city officials and community stakeholders to advance strategies for preventing and addressing homelessness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with technical expertise in human services, public administration, business, or related field or equivalent amount of combined executive leadership experience and education.
• Six (6) years of experience directing human services programs in homelessness, social services, low‑income housing and community development, and/or administration with leadership over operations, program development, negotiation, business partnering, management of operating budgets and staff.
• Four years of experience supervising staff in a management or executive role.
• Experience and commitment to building and cultivating community relationships.
• Demonstrated efforts that reduce racial disparities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with service providers and client advocates to develop and support direction on a spectrum of care for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
• Direction over program policy development, planning, initiatives and implementation with a lens of racial equity, understanding of the current political landscape and in alignment with the department's strategic plan.
• Present program strategies and direction to the Department Director, Deputy Director, Mayor, City Council, and community groups.
• Develop and implement a results‑based accountability model to support current and future program direction.
• Direction over program budget, 175 contracts and agreements of over $175 million annually in homeless‑related investments.
