Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, this position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents. Ensures that MEM standards and state requirements for resident care are met. This position reports to the Executive Director.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversees all day-to-day functions of health and wellness department including resident care and personnel.
- Must adhere and lead staff to adhere to or exceed established Policies and Procedures (P&P), Morningside House Standards, regulatory practices, and state and federal regulations for senior living facilities.
- Serves as the nursing representative to state and county licensing agencies.
- Supervises health and wellness staff including hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary issues, orientations and ongoing training.
- Assists marketing department with community tours and exhibits excellent customer service skills with prospective residents and families.
- Responsible for oversight and completion of assessments for admission eligibility.
- Ensures residents meet criteria for admission/readmission based on regulatory guidelines and policies.
- Manages ongoing resident health monitoring, physician order verification, and documentation compliance.
- Transcribes medication orders to MAR/TAR, faxes orders to pharmacy, and ensures medication availability.
- Communicates with families, POA, and physicians regarding residents' conditions and changes.
- Ensures adequate trained staff coverage and notifies ED for overtime approval if needed.
- Oversees staff training and compliance in all areas including fire drills, infection control, and emergency procedures.
- Participates in community and administrative meetings.
- Coordinates and develops ongoing training for nursing staff to maintain or exceed standards.
- Participates in the Manager on Duty rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
- Bachelor’s Degree or 1-2 years related experience or equivalent.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Supervisory experience in a senior living setting.
