The City of Spencer, IA seeks a Director of Golf Operations to lead all aspects of the Spencer Municipal Golf Course, including operations, maintenance, customer service, sales & marketing, food & beverage and budget management. The role oversees staff, ensures policy adherence, and coordinates with the Golf Board and City Manager.

This role requires strong leadership, a deep agronomy knowledge base, and the ability to manage events, council meetings, and long-range planning to deliver

Qualifications

• Minimum of three years turfgrass management experience.
• Valid Iowa driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• State pesticide applicator certification/licensing.
• GCSAA Class A membership preferred, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
• ServSafe food management certification preferred; must obtain within 30 days.

Responsabilités

• Foster positive relationships between the golf facility, golfers, guests, employees, community and industry.
• Communicate regularly with City Manager and Golf Board about activities, goals, and plans.
• Attend designated council meetings and be flexible for evening/weekend events.
• Coordinate and administer golf facility policies defined by the Golf Board.
• Develop operating policies and procedures for golf course and clubhouse; convey goals to staff.
• Implement and monitor the budget to ensure quality products, services and value for golfers.
• Supervise maintenance of the golf course and equipment and protect assets.
• Plan maintenance and capital projects aligning with long-range goals.
