Role Description

The Director of Formulation and Engineering / Dietary Supplements is a full-time, on-site role based in Commack, NY. This position oversees formulation development, process engineering, and technology transfer activities for dietary supplement products, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include leading and mentoring engineering and formulation teams, managing project timelines and resources, and coordinating cross-functional efforts with R&D, quality, operations, and supply chain. The director will guide the design, optimization, and scale-up of manufacturing processes, troubleshoot technical issues, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes evaluating new technologies, supporting client engagements, and contributing to strategic planning for product and process innovation.

Qualifications

• Engineering Management and Team Leadership skills to direct multidisciplinary teams, allocate resources, and build a high-performance culture.
• Project Management and Integration skills to coordinate complex initiatives, align stakeholders, and ensure successful transfer from development to manufacturing.
• Experience with Software Development or engineering software tools relevant to process design, data analysis, and documentation in an industrial or manufacturing context.
• Extensive background in formulation development and process engineering for dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, or related regulated products.
• Strong knowledge of cGMP, regulatory guidelines, and quality systems applicable to nutritional and dietary supplement manufacturing.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on practical implementation.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work with internal teams and external clients at multiple levels.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related technical field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• Proven leadership experience in a CDMO, dietary supplements, or life sciences manufacturing environment is highly beneficial.
