Job summary

FootBridge in Boston/New England seeks a senior fire protection engineering leader to build and grow its New England practice. You will lead client relationships, develop business, and provide technical guidance on fire protection and life-safety code consulting.

Initially remote, with plans to establish a regional office and hire engineers as the practice expands. This role blends technical credibility with leadership to shape the market and deliver high-impact projects.

Boston / New England | Remote Initially | $160,000 - $190,000 + Bonus

A growing engineering and risk consulting firm is seeking a senior fire protection engineering leader to build and grow its New England practice.

Boston is the primary market, but candidates based in other major New England cities will also be considered.

This is a unique opportunity for someone with strong fire protection consulting experience who wants to do more than simply manage existing projects. You will have the opportunity to help establish the company’s fire protection presence throughout the region, develop client relationships, generate new business, and ultimately build the local engineering team around you.

Initially, you will work remotely while growing the business across New England. As the practice expands, you will help determine the best location for a permanent office and begin hiring and developing fire protection engineering professionals.

What You’ll Do

• Build and grow a fire protection engineering consulting practice across New England.
• Develop relationships with new and existing clients.
• Generate new fire protection, life safety, and code consulting opportunities.
• Provide technical leadership on fire protection engineering projects.
• Support clients with fire protection systems, code compliance, life safety, and risk-related challenges.
• Develop proposals, scopes, and client presentations.
• Attend industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings.
• Help shape the regional growth strategy.
• Recruit and develop fire protection engineering talent as the practice expands.
• Help establish the future New England office.

What We’re Looking For

• Direct fire protection consulting experience is required.
• 5+ years of Architecture/Engineering industry experience.
• Strong technical background in fire protection engineering, life safety, or code consulting.
• Client-facing consulting experience.
• Business development or account-growth experience strongly preferred.
• Leadership or management experience preferred.
• PE licensure is highly desired.
• If you are already scheduled to sit for the PE exam, that is also worth discussing.
• Engineering or Architecture degree preferred.
• NICET fire protection certification is a plus.
• CFPS certification is a plus.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to combine technical credibility with business development and leadership.
