Job summary

Metric Geo is seeking a qualified fire protection engineer to lead design and analysis of active and passive systems across complex federal, municipal, higher education and industrial projects. The role offers hybrid working arrangements and opportunities to grow within a 100% employee-owned architecture and engineering firm.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
  • At least four years of fire protection engineering experience.
  • PE licence obtained via the NCEES Fire Protection Engineering exam.

Responsibilities

  • Design fire suppression and fire alarm systems.
  • Produce life-safety code analyses and hydraulic calculations.
  • Develop reports, specifications, and drawing packages.
  • Coordinate fire protection across engineering disciplines.
  • Mentor junior engineers and work with senior leaders.
  • Participate in site investigations and technical reviews.

Locations: Atlanta, GA / Alexandria, Richmond or Lynchburg, VA

I’m working with a highly regarded, 100% employee-owned architecture and engineering firm looking to expand its fire protection team.

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the design and analysis of active and passive fire protection systems across complex federal, municipal, higher education and industrial projects. You’ll work within established multidisciplinary teams while helping develop a growing specialist fire protection practice.

The role
  • Design fire suppression and fire alarm systems
  • Produce building and life-safety code analyses
  • Perform hydraulic calculations
  • Develop reports, specifications and complete drawing packages
  • Coordinate active and passive fire protection requirements across engineering disciplines
  • Participate in technical reviews and site investigations
  • Support and mentor junior engineers
  • Work directly with senior technical leaders and project stakeholders
What they’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program
  • At least four years of fire protection engineering experience
  • PE licence gained through the NCEES Fire Protection Engineering exam
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA standards, building codes and life-safety requirements
  • Experience with Revit and hydraulic calculation software
  • Ability to obtain a US security clearance
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
