Job summary

The Health Plan in Wheeling, WV seeks a Director, Financial Reporting & Analysis to lead the month-end close and oversee GAAP and statutory reporting. You’ll strengthen internal controls, guide the team, and deliver insights to senior leadership.

Ideal candidate has 10–15 years in accounting/financial reporting, bachelor’s in accounting, and experience in health insurance; strong leadership and communication are essential to drive continuous improvements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
10–15 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
Health insurance industry experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting.
Experience leading and developing employees.
Ability to manage competing priorities and tight reporting deadlines.

Responsibilities

Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement close and reporting processes.
Oversee financial reporting prepared in accordance with US GAAP and statutory accounting.
Ensure timely statutory filings and reporting to NAIC and state regulators.
Maintain and strengthen internal controls around close and reporting.
Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and other accounting activities.
Analyze financial information and provide insights to senior management.
Lead, develop, and support a team of finance professionals.
Coordinate with regulators, internal auditors, and external auditors.
