Job summary

Transdev North America, Inc. seeks a Director of Data and Finance to lead financial management, analytics, governance, and performance reporting.

You will partner with executive leadership and client representatives to ensure accountability and data-driven decision making across budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting. Responsibilities include overseeing close processes, KPI development, and data interpretation to drive efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in finance, budgeting, business analytics, or data management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience within public transportation, transit operations, government contracting, logistics, or related industries preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic vision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise finance and analytics personnel. Direct and oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Lead the monthly accounting close process, ensuring timely, complete and accurate recording of transactions.
  • Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and KPIs and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Manage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial controls.
  • Support annual audits and ensure compliance with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead the collection, validation, analysis, and interpretation of operational and financial data.
  • Develop KPIs to measure operational efficiency, customer service, safety, maintenance performance, and workforce productivity.
  • Coordinate all compliance requirements and renewals.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and HR to evaluate performance and identify opportunities.

Job description

The Director of Data and Finance is responsible for leading the organization's financial management, business analytics, performance reporting, and data governance functions. This role provides strategic oversight of budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, operational reporting, key performance indicators (KPIs), and data-driven decision-making to support the organization's business objectives and contractual obligations. The Director serves as a key partner to executive leadership, operations, maintenance, human resources, and client representatives to ensure financial accountability, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement. The Director of Data and Finance should be a highly motivated self-starter with supervisory, review, and proofing experience.

Competitive compensation Minimum $122,000/ annually - Maximum $150,000 annually

Job Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise finance and analytics personnel. Direct and oversee all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities.
  • Lead the monthly accounting close process, ensuring timely, complete and accurate recording of transactions.
  • Analyze financial results, variances, trends, and key performance indicators and provide recommendations to leadership.
  • Manage general ledger activities, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial controls. Monitor revenue, expenses, labor costs, overtime, fuel costs, maintenance expenditures, and other operational expenses.
  • Support annual audits and ensure compliance with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead the collection, validation, analysis, and interpretation of operational and financial data.
  • Develop KPIs to measure operational efficiency, customer service, safety, maintenance performance, and workforce productivity. Translate complex data into meaningful insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Coordination of all compliance requirements of the organization and related periodic reporting and renewals.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Safety, and Human Resources departments to evaluate operational performance. Identify trends, risks, opportunities, and operational improvement initiatives through advanced data analysis.
  • Monitor service delivery metrics including on-time performance, ridership, maintenance reliability, absenteeism, turnover, and labor utilization.
  • Accountability for the accounts receivable and accounts payable function of all operating divisions. Provide assistance in forecasting and budgeting for all operating divisions as well as operational cost analysis.
  • Support business planning, contract proposals, and client presentations through financial and operational analysis.Lead special projects involving process improvement, automation, and performance management.
  • Prepare monthly accounting and finance reports and review with leadership team.
  • Direct supervision of team members including operations, maintenance, and office administration staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership, clients, auditors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in finance, budgeting, business analytics, or data management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Statistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience within public transportation, transit operations, government contracting, logistics, or related industries preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic vision.
  • Ability to work independently as well as a team player.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, project management and decision-making skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of accuracy with strong attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting methodologies, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Experience in managing large datasets and business intelligence solutions. Experience with ERP systems, payroll systems, business intelligence platforms, and financial management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Strong initiative and independence in completing assignments
