Job description

The Director of Finance will report directly to the VP of Finance and play a pivotal role in the fiscal health and growth trajectory of the company. You will be responsible for supporting all project and corporate financing activities, including tax equity / tax credit sales, development, construction and permanent debt, and ensuring that our ambitious development pipeline is adequately and efficiently capitalized. This role requires a blend of high-level financial modeling (ability to review the work of more junior team members and to step in where needed to make adjustments), strategic thinking, and the ability to act as a primary point of contact for sophisticated financial partners. The ideal candidate will be comfortable coaching junior team members, navigating complex deal structures, and managing stakeholder relationships with precision.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Finance will serve as a key member of the finance team. Responsibilities will include but are not limited to

• Leading the execution of project-level debt and tax equity financings, as well as supporting corporate-level capital raises where needed.
• Coaching and mentoring more junior finance team members, fostering a culture of professional growth and technical excellence.
• Running external calls and meetings both with the VP of Finance and independently with capital providers, legal counsel, and technical consultants.
• Overseeing the development and maintenance of complex financial models to evaluate project returns, sensitivity analysis, and cash flow forecasting
• Coordinating effectively between internal development teams and external financial stakeholders to ensure seamless deal closings and maintenance of project budgets
• Represent Cloudbreak at industry conferences.
• Present transactions for approval to Investment Committee and company Board of Managers.
• Occasional travel may be required.

HOURS

Full-time. The position is in Boulder, CO but extremely high-caliber candidates may be considered for remote positions.

COMPENSATION

• Competitive salary: $175,000–$250,000, depending on experience.
• Performance-based bonuses, with a 30% target.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• 7–10 years of direct industry experience in renewable energy finance, project finance, or corporate finance
• Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex financial transactions from inception to close.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent the company confidently in external negotiations.
• High level of organization and attention to detail, particularly in high-stakes, fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to mentor and guide junior staff.
• Advanced financial modeling skills and a deep understanding of energy project economics.
• Self-directed and proactive, with the grit required to overcome challenges in a fast-growing company.
