Job description

My client is a growing utility-scale solar and storage company headquartered in Austin, Texas, with a distributed team across the country. They've built a 2GWac+ development pipeline of utility-scale solar, storage, and BESS projects, sourced from the ground up in the high-growth SPP and WECC markets. Backed by significant platform growth capital, they're scaling fast, taking projects from greenfield through construction and into operation, while actively expanding their pipeline through new development and strategic acquisitions.

This is a rare opportunity to join a company at an inflection point, where your work will directly shape their trajectory and your career will grow alongside the business. You'll also have the opportunity to build long-term ownership in their success through an employee equity program. The Finance department is responsible for project finance modeling, M&A, project and corporate financing, supporting greenfield development through to project notice to proceed, helping drive project optimization, and risk/benefit assessment and revenue origination.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Project Finance Manager, the ideal candidate has experience building and running complex financial models, sourcing and maintaining key model inputs, project finance, a deep understanding of energy markets and revenue structures, and energy and tax policy/regulations relevant to utility-scale renewable energy.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Financial Modeling: Support project finance modeling across the portfolio of Solar and Storage projects, including tax equity structures, project debt, construction debt, and other financing structures, as well as supporting offtake negotiations.

  • Deal Support: Proven track record of managing due diligence and supporting transactions.

  • Economic Analysis: Provide model-based analysis and make recommendations to maximize financial efficiency. Forecast returns for prospective projects to guide growth and capital allocation to new pipeline.

  • Support accounting, treasury, and other internal departments on project finance-related matters.

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS in finance or related degree.

  • Financial Experience: 2+ years of experience in finance, with a strong background in project finance, tax equity, and debt financing in the renewable energy sector.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong proficiency in economic analysis, financial modeling, and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.

  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the renewable energy industry, spanning markets where the company is active.

  • Relationship Building: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with investors, partners, counterparties, and financial institutions.

  • Demonstrated performance of deal execution in tax equity, debt, and/or equity transactions.

  • Expert in Excel; ability to build, manipulate, and interpret complicated project finance models.

  • Energy storage experience highly preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills.

  • Understanding of GAAP financial accounting, tax regulations, and contractual matters as they relate to project finance.

Compensation:
  • Base salary + annual bonus commensurate with experience; competitive.

  • This position is eligible to participate in the company's equity/shareholder program.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including market-competitive Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, and Paid Time Off (PTO), 401(k), and parental leave.
